| Remove Hibernation File to Save Disk Space Desktop PCs do not really NEED to have Hibernation enabled - this feature is useful on laptops and notebooks to save the state of the desktop and the work in progress when the batteries run down. If you use a desktop PC, it is likely that you do not use hibernation, and you should make sure that you do not have it enabled. Hibernation reserves an amount of disk space equal to your RAM. If you have a hidden file on the root directory of your C-drive called hiberfil.sys, hibernation is enabled. To remove that file:
Deleting the Hibernation file can save from 256Mb to 2Gigabytes of disk space (depending on the size of your installed RAM). |
