| The Path To Oblivion You can get a copy of this sermon by clicking this link Along with the introduction of psychologists and social workers (whom I have called "Hick Farmer Sigmund Freud Wannabes") into our schools and prisons, "Outcome-Based Education", Eubonics, sex education, "sensitivity" training, the dumbing-down of Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT), and the invention of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AH/ADD), along with its "intervention" with dangerous psychotropic pharmacology, came the silent dirge of death for America, as we who are old enough to recall the last vestiges of the once-great nation, as it "used to be". Now that I have violated the grammatical rule against run-on sentences, I must tell you that I'm at a loss to express this any other way. All of the factors cited, and an interminable litany of others too numerous to mention, are contributory to what I see as the dying throes of a once-great nation. The prophet Isaiah wrote: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: Because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing [as] thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore I will change thy glory into shame". - Hosea 3:5, 6 No one will argue that "knowledge" in general, has increased more in the last 50 years, than the sum-total of human knowledge since the beginning of human history. But read the words of the prophet carefully; the "knowledge" he speaks of, through the pages of the most widely published book on the planet, is not technical knowledge, or a scientific knowledge, but the knowledge of "the law of thy God", and implicit in that, I believe, the knowingness that God exists. Contrary to what revisionist historians will have you to believe, in the absence of what should have been taught in schools these past 40 or 50 years, America was founded on Judeo - Christian principles, and the US Constitution is based on the Bible; the immutable law of God. One may reasonably argue that slavery would not be condoned by "God-fearing" men, and I wholeheartedly agree; but it was the US Supreme Court in its infamous Dred Scott decision, that upheld the tenets of slavery; it was Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf that rationalized and justified the pogroms that led to genocide, and the court's decision in Roe vs. Wade which legalized what was once called "infanticide" One cannot judge Christianity by Christians; as there is nothing that cannot be justified by taking the scriptures out of their intended context. America has long since ceased to be a Republic in the textbook sense. Indeed, it is doubtful that it has ever been a republic in the textbook sense. Ignorance on the part of its citizens of the difference between a republic and a democracy has led to the belief that the latter was the intent of the Founding Fathers, when nothing could be further from the truth. Better read The Federalist Papers to get a better perspective. Basically, a Republic is a government of laws, and in the case of the United States, those laws are civil law that has been codified from the Creator's book: "...We hold these truths to be self-evident; that Man is endowed by his Creator, with certain inalienable rights...." That sentence contains three phrases which are key to our understanding of the intention of the writers: 1. "Truths [are] self-evident" - What truths? Why and to whom are they "self-evident"? - If abortion on demand was not "self-evident" to the founders (abortion was codified as infanticide until Roe vs. Wade in 1973), then what changed in 1973 to convince the US Supreme Court that murder of an infant in vivo is a "right" guaranteed by the Constitution? 2. "...Endowed by their Creator" - Belief in God was a "given: in the 1700s - not anymore. A "Creator" (God) is the ultimate authority. Nothing can transgress His edicts and avoid sanction; every law is aligned with the one law that cannot be violated with impunity. Any law that permits what is forbidden, or forbids what is demanded by that ultimate authority, is an illegal law. Certainly, Roe vs. Wade falls squarely under the heading of "illegal law" by this standard. 3. "...Inalienable rights" - No man nor confederation of men can take away these rights, or enact laws that make the bestowal of these rights of no effect. And so from the very beginning, we have an abrogation of the law - not by "breaking" the law, but by the reinterpretation of what should have been "self-evident", in order to have your way in spite of the law, and in the teeth of a normal human being with his reasoning faculties intact knows to be true, but outwardly denies for reasons known only to himself. Slavery was justified by the erroneous conclusion that black people were not human, and therefore not "men" under the definition, and the idea was upheld in the Dred Scott decision. The truth that should be "self-evident"; that abortion is murder is written in the immutable law of the Creator: "Curseth be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person, and all the people hall say, Amen" The question in the courts from slavery to the Nazi genocides, to Roe vs. Wade, and most recently in a US Supreme Court decision legalizing "virtual" (computer-generated) child pornography, is not whether something is "self-evident"; or whether or not God really exists, or whether a human being is really a "person" or not, but rather whether the entity protected by law "qualifies" as a man, a person, or a victim in each case, respectively. I don't believe there would be today, any serious rebuttal to the statement that if a man "owns a slave, he s violating the rights of a human being (regardless of race or nationality), and would be arrested and certainly jailed if convicted. However, by the same standard, this "logic" failed the founders until the emancipation, and even for decades afterwards, black people in this country were still treated as less than human. Using the same "logic", the pro-death[i] crowd usurps the right of a child in vivo to live, as Adolf Hitler usurped the rights of Jews and Gypsies - by calling a human being anything other than what he is; it is not that they don't have a "choice" to begin with; certainly, there is the choice of abstinence, the choice to use contraceptives, and the choice not to be given to fornication. Not having made any of those choices properly, the last resort to eliminate the "consequences" of a whoring or whore-mongering lifestyle, is to murder by indescribably grotesque means, the innocent life that is the blessing in disguise - the delusion that a baby is not a human being, is caused by viewing one's actions through guilt. It is the perversion of perception that causes intimacy to be confused with sex. The unraveling of the moral fabric of America will be the downfall of the nation, not the threat of being overrun by Communist hordes as was envisioned by the architects of the Vietnam War, or being nuked into oblivion by Islamic "extremists" using 80 some-odd "suitcase nukes" that have gone missing from Soviet arsenals. Such are the least of our worries as our country slides down the slippery slope of moral decadence. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah have been found by archaeologists,[ii] and it seems they were destroyed by "fire and brimstone" precisely as recorded in the Bible (Genesis 19:24), as sulphur "meteorites" by the millions - found nowhere else on Earth - are scattered throughout the ruins. You can believe or deny, but the empirical evidence supports the Biblical account. And so there are those among us that are so spiritually oblivious to our own identity as children of the living God; so enamored of perishable wealth and material things, and so deceived by lying wonders, that some, like doctor Bernard Nathanson, could perform tens of thousands of infanticides before coming to the truth of what he was doing.[iii] The fact of the matter is, that the beginning of the end of any nation or civilization in history you wish to study, was preceded by the moral decadence that followed the turning away from an abiding faith. God is not an abstraction or an intellectual apparency, and true science - the science that deals with a methodology instead of a philosophy, has proven the existence of God beyond any rational man's doubt. A government that does not hold God's laws immutable, is destined to destruction; and by "separation of Church and State", this government has cast itself in the role of the serpent in the Garden of Eden; it says to the innocent child of God, "Thou shalt not surely die" (Genesis 3:4), and the child is deceived, and by Orwellian Newspeak, thinks infanticide is a "right"; he believes pornography is "free speech", and that Mankind "evolved" (ultimately) from a rock, by a fortuitous accumulation of chemical / biological accidents happening over "billions of years". What do you think is a child's view of the world, if his / her mind has been indoctrinated with such nonsense? What does that child think of himself, when his God-given instincts are in dissonance with the utter garbage that he's been taught as "scientific fact"? Our society as-is, provides the answer, and the standard relativist's justification that "America is better than any other country", is little consolation for the state of affairs we find ourselves confronted with. The United States is not what it used to be, and certainly not all it could be. Our freedoms and liberties are an illusion: especially now with the enactment of the USA Patriot Act, which is right out of Hitler's Nazi Germany. Ultimately, the people who tolerate and support a government that repeatedly acts against the best interests of its citizens, gets the government they deserve. More laws or fewer laws, tougher laws, or no laws at all, only affect the prison population, not the well being of society. The current nosology has "cause and effect" bass-ackwards; tough laws create serious crime. It is the values and morals of its citizens; the opportunity to prosper or not; the opportunity to contribute to society or be alienated from it, that will mitigate or exacerbate crime and sin. In his book, Bernard Nathanson wrote: "... An America capable of passing a pro-life Amendment would not need one; An America that needs one cannot possibly pass it".[iv] - Id at 178,¶ 1. We would make the permissiveness of the law moot, if collectively, we followed the immutable law of God: "Thou shalt not murder". Again, I can hear the objections of the John Lennon "Imagine" [v] culture, screaming that "religion has been used to justify outrageous atrocities", and sadly, that is true, however, the cited atrocities find no quarter in scripture; it is not "religion", per se', but aberrated individuals who claim to be Christians, that simply don't know the scriptures, and are not "walking their talk". You should see it that way, because that's the way it truly is. Ethics are an individual thing; morals are the codification into law, of the collective ethics of the individuals who have influence in a society. Killing a man who is in the process of firing an AK-47 into a schoolyard full of children is not murder; it is an act of heroism necessary at the instant moment to affect the greater good of the community. It would be no different in the case of an abortionist who is about to commit infanticide - the distinction between the necessary evil of "taking out" a sniper, and executing a cold-blooded abortionist, hinges upon the legal status of the parties or entities under assault. The school children playing are obviously human, and so they are entitled to be protected by society and its laws. The developing embryo, however, has been legislated to be "an inviable tissue mass", and so termination of its life is no more a criminal act than the surgical removal of a hangnail. Though I may seem to be harping on the abortion issue, I believe that no greater crime - not even Hitler's Holocaust, has ever been committed with the full sanction of government in human history. The courts have erred, and in the 33+ years since Roe vs. Wade, good people failed to stop it; and if not so-far, then probably never - that is, until the wrath of the God we call upon only when towers fall,[vi] comes down upon us in burning, smoking, stinking balls of sulphur. As a Vietnam veteran, I have seen my share of human suffering, and knew about certain things via my position in the communications center on Tan Son Nhut. I cannot imagine how another human being could cold-bloodedly cut and twist a child to pieces in vivo; I cannot imagine it; and I venture to believe that if America could imagine it, they would do whatever it takes to stop it, and the consequences of the law, as Henry David Thoreau intimated in "Civil Disobedience", be suffered by the few for the greater good of the many. A video titled "The Silent Scream" is available, and America need not imagine any longer. It is high time we end infanticide as a "right" in this country. It is high time that God-fearing America rises up and takes back the laws of this nation to the originally intended purpose. However, all the civil disobedience in the world won't change a thing, unless we re-educate and un-brainwash our children, who are subjected to psychology, evolutionism, revisionist history, and utter trash being broadcast over the airwaves, and on the Internet. We have a tough row to hoe, and it got that way because "We The People" neglected to be vigilant for so long. There can be a revolution, and a revival, but it has to start with you and me. If one truly loves God, he cannot murder a baby before it is even born. To love, and to murder; to love, and to cause pain; those are non-sequiturs - it does not follow... and yet... and yet we saw examples of such dichotomies all through history: Josef Mengele, the "doctor" of the Nazi concentration camps, tortured thousands of people to death, then went home to his wife and children just like it was "another boring day at the office"; ditto for how many abortionists world-wide? There are those who say "Truth is relative", and those who will say that "There is no truth". The one naturally leads to the other, and we see that logically, the latter statement is an oxymoron; for there to be "no truth", the statement that says that there is no truth has to be true, in which case the statement is false because no truth exists. So it is with issues of morality - an eternity spent in Pipel [vii] arguing over a matter using secular, circular reasoning, is an exercise in futility, unless we permit the absolutes of God's law to exist in our reasoning. "Truth", then, is relative to that, and nothing else. If there is no God, as some believe, then it follows that there is no law; only what can be conjured up in the mind of "good" men to insure the very survival of the species; and even at the secular humanist level, abortion and the euthanasia of Jack Kavorkian, run against the grain of "nature". Others may say that "Man is basically good";[viii] which is a relativistic statement based on the definition of "good". Unfettered by the law, or subject to laws, which are of no effect, secure in the cocoon of impunity, some men are capable of the most atrocious crimes and acts of cruelty imaginable; the vast majority is not so-inclined. "Good" by whose standards? Certainly not God's; a God who declares, "...all have sinned and come short if the glory of God",[ix] and "... all of our righteounesses is as filthy rags",[x] obviously has a higher standard to measure by - a standard that for humans, is unattainable, but which we would all do well to aspire to. Our standards must align with God's, or our moral compass will eventually lead us to "the sides of the pit". So what is the line of demarcation between a hypothetical set of identical twins that one becomes a preacher and the other becomes a serial killer like John Wayne Gacey or David Berkowitz? Short of raising the twins in a laboratory under "controlled" conditions, we have as much of the answer as we're likely to have, written in the pages of Dianetics.[xi] We could go on with endless speculation - and that's all it is, as logical as it may sound, unless we concede that there is an unseen, and indeed un-observable factor at work; an entity or intelligence that plots to confound and subvert every human effort no matter how well-intended, how generous, or how altruistic; a force that is cunning enough even to manipulate virtue towards no good ends. He is identified in scripture as "The accuser of the brethren",[xii] and "The father of lies".[xiii] Evil rushes in to fill the vacuum left by the absence of good, and evil often corrupts good; it is never the other way around. Why? As a nation, we need to explore these questions personally, in light of the only law that is immutable; for each of us, "insignificant" as we perceive ourselves to be; as "ordinary" as we think we are - ONE of us, like Rosa Parks who took a seat in the front of the bus, can set in motion, or plant a seed, or spread an idea that WILL make a difference. If we all use "The Serenity Prayer" to justify our inaction for "the things I cannot change", then we are doomed! You cannot change the orbits of the planets, or the operation of the natural laws (gravity, momentum, entropy, etc.), but everything that has been instituted by Man, or built by Man, CAN be changed. It can be made better, and what is wrong can be made right, by whoever takes it upon himself to change it with God's help - because with God, everything is possible. The axiom that "God helps those who helps themselves” is a true datum. He won't drive your car for you if you "Let go and let God", but His hand IS on the fate of nations. If we want "God (to) bless America", then we had better start "cleaning house". I can think of no better place to start besides my own self; no better way than to tender "reasonable service" to speak out against the most unfathomable abomination ever to be conceived in the pit of hell, and pray that my words start the "wheels" in motion. "I call heaven and Earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: Therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live". - Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV)
