A Prayer for the Lost and the Survivors Dear Lord, we know you are a God of Mercy, and a God of compassion. We know you are a God of Love who looks after all of his children, and you said in your Word, "...none shall take them out of my hand".
We mourn those who were lost in the tsunami of December 26th last year, Lord, and for some of us it is difficult to be consoled for their loss - especially the innocent children. Lord, we know that your said in your Word: “...For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” - James 4:14b (KJV)
We pray for those who have never heard your Word; that their souls may be received in the bosom of Abraham by your mercy and your grace.
That part of the world, Lord, still worships false gods and idols, and we pray that this is our opportunity as Christians - not only to minister to the physical needs of the survivors, but to preach the salvation of Jesus Christ into these frontier areas which have for so long been neglected. We plead the blood of Jesus on the children, Lord. Keep them safe, and out of the hands of those who would exploit them. We pray for a miracle, that somehow the survivors will find the faith, and the courage to recover from their traumas.
Most of all we pray for the strength and the compassion to deal with the largest natural disaster in human history. We pray for the generosity of all the world's people in this time of need, and your blessings upon them - because you said in your Word:
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it." - Malachi 3:10 KJV
And so we hold you to your Word, Lord, which we know you will keep. Those of us who have our lives and our loved ones are obligated in Christ's love, to give out of the bounty that you have blessed us with, to those who are devastated by this disaster. You said in your Word, Lord:
"And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward." - Matthew 10:42 KJV
Because we believe in your Word, Lord, this pastor and this ministry pledges a tithe of our proceeds from the sale of our books, to the relief efforts in South Asia. We humbly ask your blessings upon our work, and that what we give in the spirit of Christian Love is multiplied as your son Jesus multiplied the Loaves and Fishes. Lord, we are not asking anything of you that you are not capable of doing. We pray that the hearts of everyone who reads this will be touched by compassion, and that they not let that compassion fade into the events of the day, before giving a tithe of their blessings which you have provided, to help those who were devastated by this disaster. We know by faith, Lord, that your bounty is endless, and that whatever we give out of your blessing will be replenished anew.
We thank you Lord, in advance, because we ask in Jesus’ name:
"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” - John 14:14 (KJV) For the victims, and the survivors - we cry “Abba, Father” . Thank you, Jesus!
